Stupidly many prisons have lots and lots of restrictions on what you can send in the mail.  The following is a list of things you should not include. Please know that we think this is ridiculous and we are only sharing these restrictions based on personal experience with things getting refused, not because we don’t want your arts and crafts to look super fabulous.

  • tape & glue (anything with adhesive, like stickers)
  • staples
  • glitter
  • construction paper
  • crayon
  • Polaroids
  • lock picks
  • this probably goes without saying but, any explicit sexual content, nudity, or references to radically political or illegal activity can (and most likely will) get a prisoner into trouble.

If you make a beautiful letter with any banned materials, you can scan it, print out the image, and send that instead!
