Today, Sunday, Nov 19 from 4-5pm at the Howard Zinn Bookfair, we will be on a panel entitled Breaking Headlines: The role of newspapers in organizing across prison walls with reps from The Abolitionist (Critical Resistance), The Fire Inside (CCWP) Black & Pink News (Black & Pink), and SF Bay/view
Tomorrow, Monday Nov 20 from 6:30-8:30 is our Black & Pink Annual Holiday Card Party at SomaR in Oakland! Together, we’ll decorate cards (planting seeds of hope and connection) to send in to 225 of our local NorCal LGBTQ+ incarcerated members. We will receive a portion of proceeds from the bar during the event, and will also happily accept direct donations towards postage.
Space and access info:
There are alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and sometimes food available for purchase at the bar.
SomaR is a public space and we cannot control scents, but please be as low scent as possible to reduce our collective impact.
Additionally smoking is allowed near the entrance,

Fundraiser for Black & Pink and the next edition of ABOPrison VisitsWe are continuing to visit some of our incarcerated members. We’ll hopefully be heading to Mule Creek on Dec 17. More visits to come in 2018. If you have a penpal and are interested in visiting them, request that they send you a visitation form and then send it in. We can assist, if needed. We have visited Mule Creek State Prison, San Quentin and plan on returning to those as well as visiting CCWF, and possibly California Medical Facility and CSP-Sac.
