We just met for our last official meeting of our Inside/Outside Prison Abolition Study Group! Readings here: https://flyingoverwalls.wordpress.com/study-group/
We’re still wrapping up the final logistics of this round of the study group, and are additionally dividing up into subgroups now to begin work on a zine project based on the study group as well as organizing another intro study group round and an advanced section for past participants to dive deeper into studying.
One of our study group members has been recorded twice now by Prison Radio: https://flyingoverwalls.wordpress.com/2016/01/07/lisa-on-prison-radio/
Another is getting released soon and is hoping to stay in touch for support starting an Arizona chapter of Black & Pink.
And join us for our January event! This month, instead of our usual letterwriting night, we’ll be doing a mail processing/database training. If you’ve ever wondered how we get our list of incarcerated folks seeking penpals, this is your chance to learn about everything that happens behind the scenes! We’ll do a basic training of the “zoho” database that houses Black & Pink’s over 9000 incarcerated members and then “process” some incoming letters we’ve received into the database. It’s pretty basic and we’ll be on hand to answer questions throughout the process.
